Discover what Scilly has to offer with a cruise around the eastern isles, a group of 12 uninhabited islands forming part of the Scilly Heritage Coast. With their raw, rugged edges, these isles are a haven for wildlife and keen eyes may spot gannets, cormorants, shearwaters and the friendly Atlantic grey seals, some of the rarest seals in the world. From mid-April, the puffin returns to breed and the Isles of Scilly is one of only a handful of sites in the UK where puffin spotting is possible. Learn more about this popular seabird as well as discovering why this fantastic natural habit is so hugely important.  

Your cruise ends on St. Martin’s, a quiet island with some of the finest beaches in the world, where iridescent seas lap powder white sand.  

St. Martin’s Vineyard, is the UK’s most south westerly vineyard set on the site of a former flower farm. Established as a vineyard in 1996, the first vines to be trialled were white varieties- Reichensteiner and Madeleine Angevine, with the first vintage in 2000 yielding just 120 bottles. Today, the vineyard produces five varieties; three white, one rose and one red and is a fine example of a working vineyard in action. The current owners moved to the island in early 2020 to continue the traditional management of the vineyard whilst increasing focus on biodiversity and sustainability, including a move towards organic production. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the vineyard at your own pace.   Of course, no visit would be complete without a tasting of some of the splendid wines. 

Next, head to Higher Town,  which is home to a charming gallery showcasing local artisans for free time to browse at leisure.

  • Remarks/requirements: Appropriate clothing and comfortable sturdy walking shoes. 

  • Walking information: Strenuous. Guests need to be fit, and be able to walk at a decent pace for 2 miles on rough track with 2 steep inclines. There is no option to wait and be picked up later. Due to tides, the boat may have to leave from the other end of the island and at a set time. Comfortable sturdy footwear is recommended. There is approximately 3 miles of walking on this excursion.
