On the voyage from Svolvær to Kirkenes, you’ll see Lofoten, Vesterålen and the Arctic wilderness of the north. In summer there’s 24-hour daylight so you won’t miss out on anything. In winter you’ll have the chance to see the northern lights flash across the sky.
DAY 1 : Svolvær
Wild and wonderful nature
Lofoten is world famous for its magnificent granite cliffs, white sandy beaches, the charming little fishing villages, fish flakes and fishermen’s cabins. In addition to the beautiful nature, Lofoten is known for the annual cod fisheries, which start in January and run until April. Svolvær is Lofoten’s largest dwelling and this is where your voyage begins. The ship sets its course northward in the evening. Find your spot on deck or in the panorama lounge and enjoy the view of some of the world’s most beautiful natural scenery.
DAY 2 : Stokmarknes – Skjervøy
North Cape and even further north
Through the night, the ship navigates through the narrow Raftsundet sound. After stopping in Harstad, the cruise continues via Finnsnes to Tromsø for a longer stay. This is a beautiful town located in a safe harbour between large islands and tall mountains. This is the largest city in Northern Norway and can rightfully be called the capital of the Arctic. Archaeological digs have shown that humans lived here 9000 years ago. At the end of the 9th century, the chieftain Ottar from Hålogaland was based here. He regarded himself as “the man who lived further north than any other Norwegian”. Many expeditions into the Arctic Ocean to the north set off from Tromsø.After exploring the town, you’ll join us on board again and the ship will continue northward.
DAY 3 : Øksfjord – Berlevåg
Visit small fishing villages in the Arctic
After a brief stop in Hammerfest and Havøysund, we arrive in Honningsvåg, the gateway to the North Cape. Here you can either explore Honningsvåg on your own, or take part in the expedition to the North Cape. Standing on top of the 307 metre high North Cape plateau feels like being right at the end of the world. This area is also teeming with birdlife. We sail through the heart of the land of the Sami people and pass their old sacrificial landmark, Finnkjerka, when we approach Kjøllefjord.
DAY 4 : Båtsfjord – Kirkenes
At the Russian border
The last port in this voyage northward is Kirkenes. Located at 30°E, you’ll now be further east than Istanbul and St. Petersburg. If you have time before you travel back home, we recommend you spend some time exploring Kirkenes.
